Josiah & Reanne are close friends of Matt & I, so I was so thrilled to have the opportunity to capture their engagement photos and am ecstatic for their upcoming October wedding! These two are so special to us -- Josiah in fact saw Matt & I's own relationship unfold, from dating to our engagement, and he was even a groomsmen in our wedding. So to be able to photograph these two and truly capture their relationship meant so much to me.
To start, these two picked the most GORGEOUS backdrop for their engagement session -- Armstrong Woods in Guerneville, California. We met up at Korbel and headed over to the park, starting from the bottom and working our way up to the top of the mountain. The Redwoods made for an amazing spot! As we got to the top of the mountain, we explored our surroundings and then hung out until the sun was at the right spot. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait!
Q&A with the Bride
How/When/Where did you two meet: Josiah and I met in the summer of 2011 when he moved into the house next door to me while we both attended undergrad at Chico. We hit it off as friends, began dating, did about 8 months of long distance and decided to move in together once we both graduated.
How/When/Where did the proposal happen: Josiah proposed right before we left for our trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras on February 5th, 2016. We went for a drive out to Mount Diablo to watch the sunset, but when we were about to enter the park it was closing. I was just like whatever let's just go home, but Josiah (freaking out on the inside) wanted to find a different spot. I suggested a spot that I had seen on my drive home from work so we drove over there and made it just in time for the sun to set. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, I was shocked because I was expecting him to propose in New Orleans. I was still so happy (I said yes!) and the ring was a perfect fit! It actually made our trip even better because we got to celebrate our engagement the entire time we were there.
Advice for other couples for their Engagement session: wear clothes that are comfortable and you feel great in!! Try to have fun and forget that there's a camera. Don't be afraid to ask questions or for directions. During the session really try and feel the love you have for each other, it makes it that much easier to show it in your photos and you will leave the session feeling that much more in love.
