A few weekends ago my travels took me back to South Lake Tahoe. I had a few friends who had stayed at the Coachman hotel in the past and this time I figured I would see if I could make it happen for myself.
The hotel is located deep in South Lake Tahoe’s heavenly motel blocks, still walking distance to the main road and the casinos. It’s a quaint little motel that was renovated and painted black on the outside — definitely standing out from the rest of the motels on the street.
Upon arrival, figuring out where to check in at was a bit confusing as the bar (for coffee and adult drinks) is also where the reception area is. Besides that, the inside of the bar/reception lounge is absolutely darling.
As you walk up to the reception and bar, you are greeted by a cozy and inviting patio area. Had I been able to actually enjoy this area during my stay, I definitely would have. For me it was one of the best features of the property.
The rooms are nice and updated. However, if you are looking for a luxury experience you will want to go elsewhere. The renovations were made in mind for those who tend to come to Tahoe to enjoy outdoor recreational activities with the floors being plywood painted over. I also recommend staying here during the winter or cooler months as there is no AC, but they do have heating and a heated toilet seat to warm your tush for the colder weather.
They’re also extremely dog friendly. The next morning I enjoyed an iced latte in the lounge and was so excited to see how many dogs came in and out of the lobby. My heart was so full and it felt like pure heaven.
The only down side to my stay was that I not only left my Apple iPhone charger, I also left three of my necklaces. Two of which were very near and dear to my heart. I realized this the day after I had checked out. I immediately contacted them to let them know and to see if anything had turned up. They were nice on the phones about it, but their follow-up wasn’t the greatest in regards to contacting me to let me know if the bedding cleaners had found anything. So far, nothing has turned up which breaks my heart a little bit. However, that was on me. So lesson learned.
Ultimately, I recommend this place as a cute little getaway hotel for the adventure seeking.
